A Google Meet Link will be sent to the email addresses provided on the interest google form.
Athletes are expected to learn a dance & cheer PRIOR to attending tryouts. This will be evaluated at tryouts.
The words for the cheer are...
Wildcat Power
Wildcats, here we go
Yell the colors that you know
Red, white xx red, white
Wildcats, a little louder
This time you yell wildcat power
Wildcat power xx Wildcat power
Red, white xx Wildcat power
Below is the expected attire...

Hello OJR Families,
My name is Marlinda (Marli) Hertzog, and I am the Head Coach for OJRHS Varsity Cheer. I have been a teacher in the district for the last three years, and I am thrilled to be joining the Owen J Roberts Cheerleading community. I will be working alongside the new Junior Varsity Coach Jessica DeNicola.
This year has been filled with challenges for all of us. Many new changes and policies have impacted our usual order and process of cheerleading workouts, tryouts, and events. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we plan our 2020-2021 Wildcat Cheer season. We have put together a brief outline for the next few months as we eagerly look ahead to the formation of our high school cheerleading teams.
Below is an outline of upcoming events:
On Sunday, July 12 a preseason meeting will be held via Google Meet @ 7pm. Please check our tryout or workout post for more information.
Optional summer workouts will he held on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning July 13 and ending on August 12. These will be run from 9:00am – 10:30am. All social distancing protocols will be applied to our workouts including coaches wearing masks, cheerleaders placed 6 ft. apart, groups not larger than 25, and hand sanitizer distribution before and after workouts. Pre-registration for summer workouts is required. Please register for fall sports via the Owen J Roberts Athletic website prior to attending workouts.
Tryouts will be held over a 3 day period of August 17th, 18th, and 19th from 9:30am – 11:30am in the auxiliary gym. Knowing this is short notice, we will have flexibility if you are away during the tryout dates. Please email me at mhertzog@ojrsd.net if your athlete is facing a conflict for these dates. Detailed information regarding tryouts can be found under fall varsity cheerleading.
Please check the OJR website for official statements regarding OJRHS Cheer. We also invite you to follow us on our official OJRHS Cheer Facebook page and our official Instagram.
Thank you for support and continued patience. We are looking forward to a great cheer season!
Respectfully, Coach Marli and Coach Jessica

Families,
This year has been filled with challenges for all of us. Many new changes and policies have impacted our usual order and process of cheerleading workouts, tryouts, and events. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we plan our 2020-2021 Wildcat Cheer season.
If your son or daughter is interested in cheerleading for football or on the competition team, we invite you to attend a virtual pre-season meeting on Sunday, July 12. This will be held via Google Meet @ 7pm. https://meet.google.com/miq-pojj-zqu. During this meeting we will further introduce ourselves, review COVID-19 related procedures, and elaborate on our summer workouts & tryout process.
Tryouts will be held over a 3 day period of August 17th, 18th, and 19th from 9:30am – 11:30am in the auxiliary gym. On August 17th and 18th tryout material will be taught / reviewed including sidelines (chants) and a brief dance. On August 19th athletes will perform their material for evaluation. In addition to the above mentioned material, your athlete will perform any tumbling skills they have at the time of tryouts.
Tryouts will be judged by a small panel including myself, Coach Jess, and two impartial guest judges. A cumulative score will be tallied in the following categories: sidelines (chants), jumps, and dance. Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we have decided to make the dance available and downloadable prior to and during tryouts. Sidelines (chants) will be taught in person at tryouts.
Here is the music.
Here is the front view.
Here is the back view.
Here is the teaching video.
Knowing this is short notice, we will have flexibility if you are away during the tryout dates. Please email me at mhertzog@ojrsde.net if your athlete is facing a conflict for these dates.
Pre-registration for tryouts is required. Please register for fall sports via the Owen J Roberts Athletic website no later than August 5th.
Best,
Coach Marli & Coach Jess

Cheerleading has several accessories that go with our uniform that can become costly. We are hoping to do some fundraising to cut down on some of these costs.
What will be provided to your cheerleader:
- Uniform (Shell & Skirt)
- Pom Poms
What you will need to provide:
- Warm ups - Ordered as a team (about $90-100 MANDATORY for Fall Only). We expect that only new high school cheerleaders will need to order these.
- Cheerleading sneakers and bloomers - We order through Schuylkill Valley Sports. You may purchase your own if you can find a better deal than what SVS is offering, but the sneakers MUST be cheerleading sneakers and the bloomers MUST be RED or SILVER (any cut) ($45-50/$10-15).
- White mock-neck Under Armour style shirt - $20-30
- Red Hair bow/Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Bow - Ordered as a team (About $10-15/each)
For our Wildcats:
We will provide:
- Wildcat outfit
- Pom Poms
What you will need to provide:
- Appropriate, comfortable footwear
- Clothing to wear under the uniform based on the weather
- Red Hair bow/Breast Cancer Awareness bow (for our “female” wildcat) – Ordered as a team (About $10-15/each)
There may be other expenses throughout the year. In the past we have done t-shirts, different attire for breast cancer awareness month, senior night, and homecoming expenses. Please be aware of this.

Please bring your completed waiver form (found in the files section), be dressed appropriately, and arrive on time. If you have any questions, please text, 484-941-2592, or email, lindseyplace@gmail.com, Head Coach Lindsey Place.

Team Members, Wildcats, and alternates will be chosen at tryouts.
Being an alternate means we saw potential in your tryout but are not quite sure you are ready for the rigors of our fall team and we would like to see what you can do and bring to the team. If you accept an alternate spot you will be expected to attend all conditioning, practices, camp, and games, and to learn all of the dances and cheers. As an alternate you can either possibly become a full team member, be asked to step in temporarily on the team, audition for the wildcat position, or be asked to come back for winter tryouts. Decisions on your next steps can be made at any point during our season. How you act, how well you perform, and what you bring will influence that decision.
